A free meal at a bar or restaurant

You can eat or snack without opening your wallet in some of the capital’s traditional bars and restaurants.

There are places in Paris where you can stop off for light refreshments for no more than the price of a drink. Some popular neighbourhood establishments give you a little free snack with every drinks order, while certain bars and restaurants will even serve a free meal – usually couscous – to customers who buy drinks.

To whet your appetite

At Penty (12th), a kémia (assortment of appetizers) is served with every drinks order, except coffee or mint tea.

There is a craze for the Italian-style aperitivo in Paris.  These Italian bars serve free appetizers of the kind you would eat in Milan when you purchase a glass of wine or a cocktail. Le Culture Rapide (20th) puts on a free buffet spread on Friday evenings.
