Trendy bars in the Marais and Haut-Marais

Hip bars, cocktail bars, traditional brasseries: trendy places in the Marais and in the Haut-Marais

La Candelaria, Paris

The Marais and Haut Marais district have also succumbed to the trend in recent years for speakeasy-style cocktail bars with soft lighting, a British atmosphere, low music and talented bartenders.

La Candelaria rose to fame in just a few months. It is both a cocktail bar and a Mexican tacos restaurant. Homemade tacos are served in the first room facing onto the street. And at the end of the room a door opens onto the bar with open stonework and comfortable armchairs.

The distinctive brasseries and bistros in the Marais have become the haunt of people from the world of fashion, design and media, like Le Progrès, Café Charlot and Café Rouge, au Carreau du Temple.

In rue Vielle-du-Temple, the bar La Perle looks quite modest but is popular with some of the most famous people. This former PMU bar still has its original style and attracts hipsters and the gay community.
