Trendy bars around rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis

Popular bistros and brasseries: the new haunts of Parisian bobos and hipsters

Chez Jeannette - Façade

Typically Parisian bistros such as Le Mauri7 and Chez Jeannette, have become the base for a generation of bobos in their 30s appreciating both the district and the atmosphere of the old PMU bars. Situated opposite each other in rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, they each have a terrace that is usually throng with people.

Equally bobo, Le Floréal, situated at Goncourt – a few steps from Saint-Martin Canal – also attracts a young crowd. Strong points: New York- inspired decor and large raised terrace.

In the 9th arrondissement, the Bus Palladium has also become an ‘in’ place.  The Bus Palladium used to be a famous concert venue which played host to young up-coming artists like Alain Bashung, Indochine and the Rita Mitsouko; today, it has a restaurant and private lounges on the first floor and a club hosting live concerts on the ground floor.
