Discover or rediscover Paris and less-well-known places on a stroll around the city during Paris Design Week. This event, organized by Maison&Objet from 3 to 12 September 2020, is a great opportunity to home in on the latest design trends and innovations. In all, more than 200 places are taking part in this 10th edition. The programme includes private views, exclusive workshops and talks open to the general public and professionals in the sector.
A 10th edition on the theme of ‘(Re) generation’
Paris Design Week is a free event offering a cross-disciplinary vision of design, from furniture creation to graphic design, interior architecture, and the decorative arts. Aimed at design professionals and amateurs, as well as those looking for inspiration, Paris Design Week provides an opportunity to meet designers during exhibitions, workshops, and talks. It involves walking between several places to discover works by new talented designers, admire those of famous designers and discover solidarity initiatives such as theKermesse du Cœur in support of hospitals and the Stüdio Emmaüs open days.
This exhibition week is also an opportunity to talk about issues and challenges in the design world by looking at themes such as short circuits and the environmental impact of objects and materials used. This 10th edition focuses on the thoughts and creations of a generation (the millennials), engaged with sustainable development, through the theme of ‘(Re)generation’. The emphasis is therefore on changes in consumer behaviour with, in particular, talks on interior design and sustainable development by Swedish design companies at the Institut Suédois.
The highlights of Paris Design Week
Cocktail parties, open days, workshops, private visits and round tables are held along with the exhibitions over ten days for visitors in the 200 participating venues. In a minimalist and eco-responsible scenography created by the École Bleue, the Espace Commines welcomes 25 experienced talented designers, some recipients of prizes such as the Maison&Objet ‘Rising Talents Awards’ or the City of Paris Grands ‘Prix de la Création’. This is a special opportunity to meet these talented designers and find out what inspires them.
