Getting a cheap ticket to see a film is not always easy! Today, the price of a cinema ticket is around 12 euros (excluding the supplement for a film in 3D). To enjoy a film without overspending, go to the capital’s art house cinemas that charge reasonable rates, between 6 and 8.50 euros.

Most independent Parisian cinemas can be found in the Latin Quarter. We begin our tour of inexpensive cinemas with the Cinéma du Panthéon. Behind its attractive facade, decorated with an imitation projector, is one of the oldest cinema auditoriums in Paris. The extra bonus: after the film, you can have a drink in the cafe restaurant on the first floor, decorated by Catherine Deneuve.A few metres away from here is the Studio Galande, a small friendly cinema, which as well as having a varied programme  in the week also shows the Rocky Horror Picture Show every weekend.

If you are a fan of old American films, go to the Action Christine (now called Christine) in the Odéon district. Finally, you will be impressed by the lavish setting of the legendary Studio 28, decorated by Jean Cocteau, over at the Butte Montmartre.

And cinema buffs, take note: to see lots of films at cheap prices, don’t miss the Printemps du Cinéma, in March, and the Fête du Cinéma in July. During these two events, all tickets are sold at the single price of €3.50 per film!
