A hanging garden across from the Eiffel Tower
To celebrate their 70th anniversary, Paris’s famous Bateaux-Mouches have installed a hanging garden on the rooftop of their landing stage, where you can enjoy Roaring Twenties-themed cocktail parties and DJ sets on the banks of the Seine with a superb view of the Eiffel Tower. The pretty rooftop garden has a transparent dome tent where guests can take shelter if it rains.

The roof of the Grande Arche
An unobstructed view of Paris
The Grande Arche de La Défense, one of the landmarks of the Paris cityscape, will be putting on rooftop events with a gourmet twist this summer. Every Thursday, on its 1,000 m² rooftop terrace, the Grande Arche organizes after-work events. On these occasions, it welcomes professionals from the world of gastronomy (there’s a butcher’s counter, a caterer’s, wine specialists, a cocktail bar and more) and dance to DJ sets perched at a height of 110 metres while enjoying an all-encompassing view of Greater Paris.

This unusual pop-up terrace is in the courtyard of the beautiful Palais de la Porte Dorée, which houses the Musée National de l’Histoire de l’Immigration as well as a tropical aquarium. From the end of June, the Poisson Lune is offering many family activities.

At Molitor, there is no beach or river, but there is an iconic Parisian art deco swimming pool. If you do not get to dive into its crystal clear water (reserved for guests of the hotel, the spa and the club Molitor), you can still gaze on it from the venue’s roof terrace, open in summer only. Enjoy house cocktails, grilled meat and fresh salads with electronic music playing in the background.

A haven of peace next to the canal
The relaxed party atmosphere at Le Top, the rooftop space at the Point Ephémère, reflects the vibe of this well-known Paris arts venue. The spacious terrace overlooking the bustle on the banks of the Canal Saint-Martin offers a haven of peace and greenery when warm weather arrives. You can relax and enjoy the sunshine on one of the deckchairs and have a drink and some tapas at the refreshment stall.

An urban wasteland converted into a community space
Near the Gare de Pantin, a one-hectare strip of wasteland formerly owned by the French railway company SNCF and surrounded by trees and bushes is home to the Cité Fertile, an offbeat community space. This pop-up space with a sustainable and eco-friendly ethos is also a great outdoor spot where families can relax and play together, offering boules pitches, beach volleyball courts, a makeshift beach, a library and other activities.

The Hasard Ludique terrace
A terrace flanking the Petite Ceinture
Housed within a station along the Petite Ceinture, the railway line that once ran around Paris, the Hasard Ludique is the hottest spot in the 18th arrondissement. From June, the 300-m2 terrace running the length of the platform opens from the end of March. There is a joyful vibe at this unusual and alternative space hosting a number of live events besides its offer of bar and catering services, as well as games that all are free to play.

A terrace in southern Paris
With a similar kind of ethos to the Hasard Ludique, Le Poinçon, the new Parisian cultural space opened in 2019 inside the former train station in Montrouge, another town along the Petite Ceinture, but in southern Paris. Hosting live events, exhibitions and concerts, it also has a café-restaurant.

Located at the foot of Paris’s most beautiful bridge, Pont Alexandre III, across from the Grand Palais, the Faust is a trendy venue with a terrace. The clientele is made up in equal parts of Parisians who come here for an after-work drink and tourists strolling along the quayside Berges de Seine. Situated on a pedestrian-only walkway on the waterside, the terrace of Le Faust opened in early June 2020, and will be open seven days a week throughout the summer.

Azulito, the summer pop-up on the terrace of the Palais de Tokyo’s restaurant Monsieur Bleu, is holding the Nuits de Monsieur Bleu (Nights at Monsieur Bleu) event from 6.30pm to 2am Tuesdays to Saturdays, so you can make the most of the long summer evenings. The Frame Brasserie restaurant in the 15th arrondissement of Paris has opened a summer rooftop pop-up. Drinks, lunch or dinner are served on this terrace with a relaxed lounge bar feel, where you can indulge in fine cuisine while savouring the magnificent view of the Eiffel Tower. Chef Andrew Wigger has concocted a menu with American and Mexican influences, including his signature burger. All the food is made using locally grown organic produce, straight from the restaurant’s garden.
