Shows at the Palace of Versailles

Fireworks displays, fountains...: the Palace of Versailles has something exciting for visitors all summer long.

The summer programme at the Versailles Estate is packed with great events! Festive entertainment, music and exceptional evening events are happening all summer, and right up to 31 October 2021. Visitors can attend the ‘Musical Fountains Show’, the ‘Fountains Night Show’... , discover the ‘Versailles Festival’ or take part in a Masked Ball … All the details on not-to-be-missed festivities!

Les Grandes Eaux musicales (Musical Fountains Show)

Every Saturdays and Sundays from 22 May to 31 October 2021, and Wednesday 14 July.

The Musical Fountains Show invites visitors to stroll through the gardens of Versailles that the Sun King was so fond of.  An invigorating walk past ornamental ponds and fountains, which for a few hours regain all the past glory and splendour  of the court of Louis XIV, thanks to the expertise of water-fountain engineers. Waterfalls, jets and sprays of water spring forth in a crystal clear aquatic dance to the sound of music by Lully.

  • Opening of the groves: from 9am to 7pm
  • Music from 10am to 7pm
  • Water effects (week-end public holidays) 11am to noon and from 3.30pm to 5pm. Tuesdays from 9 to 23 June 2020: 11am to noon and from 2.30pm to 4pm
  • Water effects at the Mirror Fountain from 10am to 7pm
  • Water display in the Water Theatre Grove: every 15 minutes from 10am to 7pm
  • Bassin de Neptune Fountain Show every 15 minutes from 10am to 5pm, then from 5.45pm to 6.45pm, on weekends and public holidays. Every 15 minutes from 10am to 6.45pm on Tuesdays from 9 to 23 June.
  • Final - Bassin de Neptune Fountain Show from 5.20pm to 5.30pm.

Les Grandes Eaux Nocturnes (Fountains Night Show)

Every Saturdays from 12 June to 25 September 2021, and 14 July and 15 August

At dusk, the Fountains Night Show unveils the charm of the gardens of Versailles … Lighting and stage effects artists and a group of fireworks experts,  the ‘Groupe F’,  create a stunning ephemeral itinerary of visual, sound and aquatic installations with a fireworks finale under the starry sky of the Versailles Estate, to the sound of baroque music.

  • Opening, music and water show of the Grand Perspective: from 8.30pm to 11.05pm.
  • Fireworks finale in front of the Grand Canal: from 10.50 to 11.05pm

Online rate: €28. Online VIP ticket €47.

Online reduced rate: €24. Free for children aged under 6

Royal serenade in the Hall of Mirrors

Every Saturday from 12 June to 18 September 2021, and 14 July and 15 August

Just before The Fountains Night Show or after the Musical Fountains Show, dancers from the company L’Eventail and musicians from Les Folies Françoises invite visitors to accompany them from the Royal Apartments to the famous Hall of Mirrors. A circuit punctuated with theatre sketches portraying the customs and habits of the court in the 17th century.

  • Performances lasting 40 minutes: at 6.30pm, 6.50pm, 7.10pm, 7.30pm  and 7.50pm

Rate: €26. Reduced rate: €23. Free for children aged under 6.

Serenade + Grandes Eaux Nocturnes: €45 (online rate). Reduced rate: €38. Free for children aged under 6.

Serenade + Grandes Eaux Musicales: €30. Reduced rate: €26. Free for children aged under 6 (only available online or by phone).

A health pass - for adults over 18 and for all visitors over 12 from 30 August - is required to participate in this event. Masks must be worn when travelling and throughout the show.

The Musical Gardens

From Tuesday to Friday from 1st of July to 31 August 2021 (except 14 July). Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2 September to 29 October 2021.

L'Orangerie du domaine de Versailles

The Musical Gardens event invites visitors to discover preserved areas of the Versailles Estate, with its French-style formal garden designed by the landscape architect André Le Nôtre. A chance to discover groves and other features: sculpture, architecture, fountains … on a musical promenade.

  • Opening of the groves: from 9am to 7pm
  • Music from 10am to 7pm
  • Water effects at the Mirror Fountain every 10 minutes, from 10am to 7pm
  • Water display in the Water Theatre Grove: every 15 minutes from 10am to 7pm
  • Bassin de Neptune Fountain Show: every 15 minutes from 10am to 7pm

Early closing of the gardens at 5.30pm on 5, 12 July and 29 October

Spectacle Marie-Antoinette au Domaine de Versailles

In 2021, the gardens of the Château de Versailles will host two exceptional night-time events. On 15 August 2021, the park's flowerbeds will be illuminated by thousands of candles and brought to life by fire artists. The evening ends with a fireworks display. One month later, on 15 September 2021, electronic music will enliven the gardens of the Château de Versailles for an original musical stroll to the sounds of Yuksek, Clara 3000, Myd, Arnaud Rebotini, Gaspard Augé and Ed Banger. The evening will be punctuated by the watering of the fountains and a fireworks display.

Napoleon at Versailles

Evénement Napoléon à Versailles 2021 - Bandeau, Paris

As part of the commemoration of the bicentenary of the death of Napoleon I, the Château de Versailles is organising a spectacular historical reconstruction in the gardens of the Trianon estate. The public is invited to discover, as they stroll through the gardens, the reconstruction of a military camp, representations of the daily life of a regiment, military manoeuvres, demonstrations of horseback exercises... no less than 300 extras in historical costumes60 horses and the exceptional participation of the Republican Guard.

Full price web adult: 20€ on Saturday 11 September and 25€ on Sunday 1 September. Children's web rate: 10€. Free for children under 5 years old.

What could be more exciting than becoming a character of the Empire for a night? On September 11th 2021, the Palace of Versailles organizes its Fête Empire at the Grand Trianon, an entertaining evening of demonstrations, vintage dance classes, a ball, firework display, with everyone dressed up in period costume. For the most enthusiastic, a grand masked ball takes place on 18 June 2022, from 11.30pm to dawn!
