Great cinema classics are refashioned in Paris. They take the form of musicals, movie screenings with live musical accompaniment, exhibitions or a giant karaoke; another way for the public to rediscover the stories that have marked the history of cinema.
A must! Emblematic of the 90s, Jerry Zucker's cult film starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze is being staged at the Théâtre Mogador and is a must-see musical. To the sound of the hit song Unchained Melody, the fated love story of Molly and Sam, and his ghost plays out and promises to pull at the heart strings of the audience.

Cinema screenings with live musical accompaniment, concerts and exhibition
The year 2019 celebrates the 130th anniversary of the birth of Charlie Chaplin, one of the greatest geniuses in the history of cinema. To coincide with this anniversary, the museum of the Philharmonie de Paris is presenting the exhibition The Sound of Charlie Chaplin in which the most famous silent movie actor reveals his innate sense of rhythm and musicality. Alongside the exhibition, the Philharmonie de Paris is devoting an entire week to the artist. On the programme: cinema screenings with live musical accompaniment and performances of musical works performed by Charlie Chaplin. In the West of Paris, La Seine Musicale also pays tribute to the actor by showing The Rink in a cinema screening with live musical accompaniment.

An American in Paris
For the end of the year 2019, the Théâtre du Châtelet presents the musical An American in Paris, choreographed and staged by Christopher Wheeldon. This musical, based on the film by Vincente Minneli, has been a smash hit since its creation. After a run of 600 shows on Broadway, the musical is back in Paris. A must see!

Eighteen actors, singers and dancers portray the lives of passionate young artists during their training at the High School of Performing Arts in New York. Freddie Mercury and the band Queen come to the Grand Rex with their greatest hits for a movie karaoke in which the public are invited to trace the history of this legendary rock band. We are The Champions, Don’t Stop Me Now and We Will Rock You are all part of the line-up.

The Fellowship of the Ring is back in Paris in an exceptional exhibition at the BNF. Throwing light on J.R.R. Tolkien, the writer and creator of the Hobbit world and his work, the event brings together some 300 items relating to the author and his work, making it the largest exhibition to date dedicated to Middle-earth.
