Whilst Paris is the capital of fashion and design, it is also and above all the capital of luxury. The major couture and jewellery brands are all well established in the capital. Upscale hotels and beauty treatment salons abound and top chefs all have a restaurant there.

The Bon Marché, department store, and certain streets and districts in Paris have made it their speciality. The Printemps Haussmann department store has an entire floor devoted to luxury, as does Galeries Lafayette, which devotes part of its first floor to top luxury brands.
