Concept stores

Fifteen years ago, Colette was Paris’s first concept store. Since then it has given rise to many others with varied and often innovative products.

On boulevard Beaumarchais, Merci offers clothing, furniture and decorative objects as well as two places to eat and relax. Around 100 metres away, on boulevard des Filles-du-Calvaire, Bonton is a concept store for children.

L’Éclaireur, in the 8th arrondissement, presents a range of trends in fashion objects, accessories, toys, books and interior decor.

At the Centre Commercial near to the Canal Saint Martin, you’ll find Veja shoes, clothes, second-hand furniture, works of art, as well as bicycles.

In the South Pigalle district, 30 Cancan showcases young international designers. On the avenue des Champs-Elysées, Le 66 is a huge retail space devoted to fashion, accessories, books and music. Afwosh, in the 10th arrondissement, sells clothes, jewellery, shoes and bags, and has a delicatessen section.

Edward.Edward, the concept store of the ready-to-wear brand Weill opened in September 2012. For men looking for quality shoes, Black & Goodyear has a great choice of Oxford and Derby shoes, as well as a shoe shining service. Concept stores also extend to the world of animals at Moustaches, which is devoted to cats and dogs.

In multi-brand boutiques it is easy to put together a new wardrobe, discover new designers and anticipate future trends.

Montaigne Market, situated in avenue Montaigne, offers men and women’s ready to wear, accessories and jewellery. In the Marais, Suite.341 presents the collections of Maje, Sandro and Claudie Pierlot. Finally, Lilou au Balcon specializes in lingerie.

Design shops

Paris is a landmark destination for lovers of contemporary design. French designers (the Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec brothers, Patrick Jouin, and Christophe Pillet) attract clients from home and abroad.

In the district, the mini workshop-boutique of the two designers Les Sismo (Antoine Fenoglio and Frédéric Lecourt) showcases their objects. The Marais, a hot spot for design, is home to numerous design showrooms like Byzance Home, devoted to the home, with its exclusive lines in Scandinavian design.

At Lieu Commun, the creations of Matali Crasset share a space with the collections of men’s fashion by Ron Orb. At Fleux et Pylones, you can treat yourself to practical design objects at reasonable prices. The latest trends can also be found in concept stores like Les Eclairagistes for lights, or The House Factory et Serendipity, which sells furniture and objects.

Shopping for art

Shopping  for art is a confirmed trend in Paris. Arteum, a concept store for art, presents paintings, photos and sculptures of contemporary artists and reproductions of famous works in three shops in Paris — at the Carrousel du Louvre, at Bercy Village and at La Défense. You’ll find find books on art, chairs inspired by Mondrian, the Nanas by Niki de Saint Phalle with their rounded buttocks, and umbrellas with Magritte motifs.

The gallery Wanted offers art photography at affordable prices from series of 150 copies.

YellowKorner continues its expansion in the capital and offers fine prints at low prices in its nine Parisian galleries.
