Description
The Musée Carnavalet invites the public to a large retrospective on women’s struggle for emancipation in Paris, with the exhibition ‘Parisiennes citoyennes’ (‘Parisian women citizens’)!’ from 28th of september.
From the Revolution to the year 2000, the history of feminism took shape in the capital thanks to activists who courageously demanded their civic rights in 1789 right down to women today demanding a law on parity. Women such as the well-known feminist figure Olympes de Gouge ou Gisèle Halimi as well as anonymous women have fought for civil and civic rights, for the right to self-determination and for access to artistic and cultural creation.
Communards, suffragettes, Resistance fighters, political women or trade unionists, and above all Parisian citizens, a thousand and one voices for the feminist cause in Paris.
