Description

The touring exhibition Hyperrealism. This is not a body, showing at the Musée Maillol, from 8 September to 5 March 2023 focuses on the hyperrealist trend.

This artistic movement emerged after the Second World War in the United States and reproduces, identically or in an enlarged format, an image or a living being in painting or sculpture. It is so realistic that it is not clear whether the representation is a photograph or simply the living being itself.

Visitors can see some forty striking and intriguing sculptures by leading artists on the contemporary international scene such as George Segal, Ron Mueck, Maurizio Catalan, Berlinde De Bruyckere

Musée Maillol

The Musée Maillol presents the most important collection of works by Aristide Maillol, an artist who reinvented modern sculpture in his time. Visitors can follow an itinerary that presents a very broad panorama of his works: his sculptures, as well as his paintings, drawings, terracotta works, and tapestries.
The Musée Maillol also shows two large exhibitions per year and highlights the different artistic currents from the 20th to the 21st century, and all types of artistic expression.
