Feu d'artifice au Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte

Description

The Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte will host the spectacular Candelight Evenings event from 20 May to 30 September 2023.

During the event, the château – a 17th-century architectural gem set in a French formal garden designed by André Le Nôtre – will be illuminated by 2,000 candles, making for a truly enchanting experience inspired by the celebration that took place here on 17 August 1661. The fountains play as dusk sets in, and the celebration winds up with a gold and silver fireworks display, during which the actor André Dussollier reads out a text by Jean de La Fontaine.

Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte

Before Versailles, there was Vaux le Vicomte !
Located 50 km southeast of Paris, Vaux le Vicomte offers the living experience of the 17th century.
Built in 1661 for Nicolas Fouquet, Louis XIV’s Finance minister, whose tragic fate came about after an extraordinary party he threw for the young Sun King. Fouquet had the talent to reveal the 3 main artists of the time: the architect le Vau, the painter Le Brun, and the gardener Le Nôtre. These were the artists who the King later chose to construct Versailles. Owned by the de Vogüé family since 1875, each successive generation has devoted themselves to its stewardship.
