Molière 2022

The Comédie Française, also known as the House of Molière, has perpetuated the work and heritage of the playwright and actor Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, better known as Molière, for more than 300 years.

The company is celebrating the 400th anniversary of his birth with the ‘Molière 2022’ event, with his plays being performed at the legendary Salle Richelieu as well as the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier and the Studio-Théâtre. The programme runs until 25 July 2022, so theatre lovers have ample time to see – or rediscover – the major works that made Molière famous.

The programme:

• Salle Richelieu: Le Tartuffe ou l'Hypocrite (The Imposter); Le Misanthrope (The Misanthrope); Le Malade imaginaire (The Hypochondriac); L'Avare (The Miser); Les Fourberies de Scapin (The Cheats of Scapin);Le Bourgeois gentilhomme (The Bourgeois Gentleman); Jean Baptiste, Madeleine, Armande et les autres.
• Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier: Dom Juan (Don Juan); Les Précieuses ridicules (The Affected Young Ladies); Le crépuscule des singes.
• Studio-Théâtre: D'où rayonne la nuit; Le silence de Molière; On ne sera jamais Alceste; Molière matériau(x); Le Mariage forcé (The Forced Marriage); Ex-traits de femmes.
