Damien Hirst, Cherry Blossoms

from 06 July 2021 to 02 January 2022

261 boulevard Raspail - 75014 Paris

Montparnasse - Alésia - 14e Arrondissement

The Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain unveils the new series Cherry Blossoms by British artist Damien Hirst. Some thirty of these monumental canvases were selected from a series of around one hundred and are on show from 6 July 2021 to 2 January 2022. The works immerse the visitor in a landscape of vegetation made up of thick touches of bright colours projected onto the canvas, evoking impressionism, pointillism, and the action of painting. This is the first exhibition by Damien Hirst in a cultural establishment in France.

Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain

The Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, which opened in 1994, is located on Boulevard Raspail in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. The stunning glass building designed by architect Jean Nouvel blurs the boundary between interior and exterior space. The foundation hosts major contemporary art exhibitions, both themed and specially commissioned, in a variety of media (photography, painting, video, fashion, live shows) as well as special events known as Soirées Nomades (Nomadic Nights). Round off your visit with a foray into the garden, a work of art in itself, created by artist Lothar Baumgarten.
