From the Google Arts & Culture platform, the exhibition retraces the main stages in the history of this famous Parisian monument, from its creation as a train station and hotel for the World Fair of 1900 to its inauguration as a museum in 1986. A unique example of a Belle Époque industrial building that has become a major cultural venue.

At the end of 2011, the museum reopened all of its entirely renovated spaces as well as some new rooms: an additional 400 m² for the Pavillon Amont, Post-Impressionist artists at the heart of the museum, the redesign of the Impressionists gallery, a new temporary exhibition space, plus a new 'aquatic' decor for the Café des Hauteurs, designed by Brazilian designers, the Campana Brothers.

- Auditorium adapted to welcome 3 wheelchair users
- Revolving doors: a panel can be opened to accommodate a wheelchair
- Maximum 5 wheelchairs per group; groups of over 10 wheelchair users can visit on Mondays when the museum is closed
- Wheelchairs and folding chairs available for visitors cannot stand for long periods
