From 3 February to 1 April 2020, the Opéra Bastille pays tribute to the art of Georges Balanchine, co-founder of the New York City Ballet. The show brings together three dance works. Concerto Barocco, set to music by Bach, is a neoclassical ballet created for students of the School of American Ballet by Balanchine. The Four Temperaments is a visual counterpoint to Paul Hindemith's musical variations. Finally, Sérénade is a plunge into the Russian world of Tchaikovsky, a source of inspiration for Balanchine.  A not-to-miss event for dance enthusiasts!

Opéra national de Paris - Opéra Bastille

The Opéra Bastille was designed by Carlos Ott, a Canadian-Uruguayan architect, in November 1983 after an international competition in which 1,700 architects participated. It was later opened on 13 July 1989.
The architecture is characterized by the transparency of its facade and the use of the same materials on both the interior and the exterior of the building.
With its 2,700-seat auditorium with homogeneous acoustics, unique stage equipment, integrated workshops, costumes and accessories, and work and rehearsal rooms, the Opéra Bastille is a great contemporary theatre.
At the Opéra Bastille, visits led by a certified tourguide will immerse you behind the scenes of this impressively-sized modern theatre.
