Les Troyennes - Théâtre du Châtelet

Initially a Greek tragedy by Euripides, Trojan Women has been adapted by the Korean National Theatre and by Singaporean director Ong Keng Sen. The result of their joint work is a contemporary opera in French, surtitled in Korean, based on typical traditional Korean musical narratives called pansori. This delicate mixture of cultures draws a parallel between the sufferings of the Trojan women of the time and those of the Korean women of today. Performed by the Korean National Company of Changgeuk, the show can be seen at the Théâtre du Châtelet.

Théâtre du Châtelet

It is to the architect Gabriel Davioud (Saint-Michel fountain, Monceau Park gates ...) that we owe the Théâtre du Châtelet, just like the Théâtre de la Ville, located just opposite. The programming of this high-place of Parisian culture, inaugurated in 1862, is innovative and demanding: classical music concerts, theater, dance shows, internationally renowned musicals ... The Théâtre du Châtelet also hosts a nightclub - Joséphine - for club nights several times a week, in an original setting.
