A Quiet Evening of Dance - William Forsythe - Théâtre du Châtelet

Description

With A Quiet Evening of Dance, American choreographer William Forsythe mixes classic and contemporary dance. Performed at the Théâtre du Châtelet the programme comprises two new pieces Epilogue and Seventeen/Twenty One, and two reimagined repertory works, Dialogue (DUO2015) and Catalogue. The ballets are performed by six former dancers from the Forsythe Company, who are joined by hip-hop dancer Rauf ‘RubberLegz’ Yasit. Modernity and academism are central to the choreography, with elegant staging and a backdrop of Baroque music by Rameau.

Théâtre du Châtelet

It is to the architect Gabriel Davioud (Saint-Michel fountain, Monceau Park gates ...) that we owe the Théâtre du Châtelet, just like the Théâtre de la Ville, located just opposite. The programming of this high-place of Parisian culture, inaugurated in 1862, is innovative and demanding: classical music concerts, theater, dance shows, internationally renowned musicals ... The Théâtre du Châtelet also hosts a nightclub - Joséphine - for club nights several times a week, in an original setting.
