Description
The fates of painters Franz Marc and August Macke, both leading exponents of German Expressionism and the Der Blaue Reiter (blue rider) movement, were intertwined. This exhibition at the Musée de l’Orangerie retracing their careers looks at Franz Marc’s famous blue horses, the meeting of both painters with Victor Vasarely and their subsequent exploration of more extreme forms of painting. The show comprises the masterpieces of the two German painters, who were both admirers of Cézanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin and Fauvism.
