Affiche Picasso Rutault 2018

The Musée Picasso is putting on an exhibition in which current-day French artist Claude Rutault’s works ‘dialogue’ with those of the great master Picasso. ‘Picasso-Rutault, Grand Ecart’ (Divergence) contrasts the different mediums in which the contemporary artist works (painting, graphic art and sculpture) with Picasso’s pictorial compositions, highlighting the difference between the traditional painting, i.e. a completed, signed and dated canvas,  and the contemporary artist’s creative process, in which each piece is a work-in-progress destined to undergo change depending on the way conservators interpret the artist’s own instructions for the conservation of his art.

Musée national Picasso-Paris

The collection in the Musée Picasso-Paris includes more than 5,000 works and tens of thousands of archive pieces. By its quality and its size shown by the diversity of artistic domains represented, it is the only public collection in the world that allows you on a journey following the creative process of the artist using all the work painted, carved, engraved and drawn by Picasso, including sketches, studies, drawings, sketchbooks, engravings, photographs, illustrated books, movies and documents. Established in 1985 in the Hotel Salé, one of the most iconic private hotels built at the end of the 17th century, the museum has just benefited from an important renovation that has enabled the directors to double size of the exhibition spaces and create welcome desks and adapted facilities for the public.
