Like every year, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte celebrates Christmas. Closed throughout the winter, the fabulous castle exceptionally opens its doors so that young and old alike can wander through a magical and marvellous décor in the heart of the castle, discover the immense golden pyramid cot and taste delicious chocolate biscuits in the French garden. This year, Vaux-le-Vicomte is partnering with the Red Cross and invites each child to leave one of his or her toys to be donated to children from disadvantaged families.

From 20 November to 17 December 2021: Wednesday-Friday, 2pm-6.45pm (the estate closes at 7.45pm); Saturday-Sunday, 11am-6.45pm (the estate closes at 7.45pm). From 18 December 2021 to 2 January 2022: daily, 11am-6.45pm (estate closes at 7.45pm). 24 and 31 December 2021: 11am-4.45pm (estate closes at 5.45pm). Closed on 25 December 2021 and 1 January 2022.

Castle and gardens: €19.90/adult; €15/child and disabled person. Gardens only : (animations, snack for children and outdoor mapping): €15/adult; €14/child and disabled person

Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte

The estate of Vaux-le-Vicomte is the fruit of a creative and passionate mind, that of Nicolas Fouquet. To build his home, he enlisted the services of three of the greatest artists of the era: the architect Louis Le Vau, the landscape gardener André Le Nôtre and the painter and decorator Charles Le Brun. Here, they united their genius to build a model whose majesty and balance inspired King Louis XIV at Versailles and then the whole of Europe for over a century.

  • From the Gare de l'Est, take the P train to the Verneuil-l'Étang station (on the departure board, choose a train in the Provins direction). One train every hour, journey takes 35 minutes. Then take a Châteaubus shuttle (in front of the SNCF station exit). It is possible to buy bus and entry tickets directly on the Château's website.
