Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés - 75006 Paris
Musée d'Orsay - Saint-Germain-des-Prés - 6e Arrondissement
Description
A hotspot for jazz-lovers and beat aficionados such as Boris Vian and Sydney Bechet in the 50s, the district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés still retains a village-like feel, in which jazz culture is expressed in basement bars and on cafe terraces.
Since 2001, the ‘Jazz à Saint-Germain-des-Prés’ festival has been an opportunity to hear the most prestigious jazz musicians and the hottest new talents showing off their skills in the area's legendary venues. At La Sorbonne university, the Odéon Theatre, the University of Science-Po or at the Senate building, this charming district on Paris's Left Bank offers a stunning backdrop for the hundreds of musicians who feature on the line up each year. Among the emblematic and eclectic musicians who have appeared at the festival before are Dee Dee Bridgewater, Brad Meldhau, Richard Galliano and Manu Dibango.
As well as the concerts, the festival is also an opportunity to take part in masterclasses, discover photo exhibitions, attend conferences and talks.
