The Marche des Fiertés LGBT (formerly Gay Pride)

June 2020

Paris - 75 Paris

Description

For more than 40 years, thousands of people have paraded through the streets of Paris every year on the occasion of the Marche des Fiertés LGBT, formerly known as the 'Gay Pride'.

This event is a festive and fun occasion and aims to defend equal rights, reject discrimination and support the right for everyone to live the way they wish. The parade is organized by hundreds of volunteers, and contributes to the progress of equal rights.

The festivities begin early in the afternoon, with numerous associations spread over some fifty or so floats for a parade lasting around 4 hours, along a designated route.

The procession will leave from Place du 18 June 1940 in Montparnasse and then follow the length of the Luxembourg Gardens to reach Place Saint-Michel. It will then pass Place du Châtelet to finally come to a stop at Place de la République where everyone can gather before the Grand Podium for its concerts.
