Jardin des Tuileries | Celebration

Fête des Tuileries

from 21 June 2019 to 25 August 2019

Place de la Concorde - 75001 Paris

Louvre - 1er Arrondissement

Description

During the summerholidays the Tuileries Gardens host a traditional funfair. Children and adults, tourists and Parisians all enjoy the 60 or so attractions: bumper cars, ghost trains, shooting gallery, hall of mirrors, 1900s wooden horses merry-go-round. There are also a few skill games such as tin can alley and duck fishing - a firm favourite with youngsters.

Kids will love the trampolines, climbing, and the giant slide. Whether you visit with family or friends, relax and stroll along the main thoroughfare with some fairground treats (candy floss, Italian ice cream, crepes, doughnuts, toffee apples, hot sandwiches, etc.).

Entry to the funfair is free of charge but there is a charge for rides and attractions. For the comfort of everyone, there is no sound system at the funfair in the Tuileries.

Jardin des Tuileries

The Tuileries Gardens take their name from the tile factories which previously stood on the site where Queen Catherine de Medici built the Palais des Tuileries in 1564. André Le Nôtre, the famous gardener of King Louis XIV, re-landscaped the gardens in 1664 to give them their current French formal garden style. The gardens, which separate the Louvre from the Place de la Concorde, are a pleasant place for walking and for culture for Parisians and tourists; Maillol statues stand alongside those of Rodin or Giacometti. The gardens’ two ponds are perfect places to relax by. The Musée de l’Orangerie, where visitors can admire the works of Monet, is in the south-west part of the Tuileries. From March to December, free tours in French are organized. Lovers of candyfloss and fairground rides will enjoy the Fête des Tuileries, from June to August.
