Cinéma des cinéastes, Paris © OTCP - DR

The Cinéma des Cinéastes was previously a cabaret called 'Le Cabaret du Père Lathuille'. In particular, it was frequented by Edouard Manet who featured it in one of his paintings. Transformed into a café-concert at the beginning of the 20th century, this place became a much-valued cinema in the 1930s, offering a programme of news in French and English. However, it was abandoned after the Second World War. It was restored in the 1970s, and then entirely renovated in the 1990s. The owner was none other than Fanny Ardant! And so, the Cinéma des Cinéastes became somewhere in Paris where cinema from Europe and around the world was showcased. People meet up here and enjoy the past ... and treat themselves to some delicious food at the Cinéastes bistro!
