Description

Many renowned architects participated in the building of the Court Square (Cour Carrée). The Renaissance façade is the oldest part of the Louvre Museum. Its construction, decided by Francis I before his death in 1547, is due to the architect Pierre Lescot. Its decor by Jean Goujon is a homage to the French sovereign.
