Description
The studios at 12-14 Rue Cortot were once meeting places and were home to many artists, including Pierre-August Renoir, Charles Camoin, Émile-Othon Friesz, Raoul Dufy, Émile Bernard, Suzanne Valadon and Maurice Utrillo.
The Musée de Montmartre was created in 1960 in Montmartre's oldest structure, built in the 17th century, and houses a collection of paintings, posters and drawings by Toulouse-Lautrec, Modigliani, Kupka, Steinlen, Valadon, Utrillo and more.
Walking around the museum, you will relive the area's history, the lively artistic scene of its studios and the atmosphere of its famous cabarets. The Hôtel Demarne, a beautiful Directoire era residence, has been entirely reinvented to welcome temporary exhibitions as well as the Café Renoir.

Just a stone's throw from the Place du Teutre, the three Renoir Gardens surround the Musée de Montmartre and overlook the local vineyards. They are named after Auguste Renoir, the Impressionist painter who lived nearby between 1875 and 1877 and painted several of his materpieces there, such as 'Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette', 'The Swing' and 'The Garden in the Rue Cortot'.
