Square Georges Cain

8 rue Payenne - 75003 Paris

Le Marais - 3e Arrondissement

Description

Square Georges Cain on Rue Payenne is located a stone’s throw from the Carnavalet Museum. Although this little park is situated amid the bustle of the trendy Marais district, it provides a 2,128-m² oasis of greenery to people who’ve been lucky enough to stumble upon it, and neighbourhood regulars who would like to keep it a secret.
Two artworks set the square apart from other Paris parks and gardens: ‘L'Aurore’, a bronze statue of a nude woman in the middle of a rose bed by the 17th-century sculptor Laurent Magnier, and ‘Le Rossignol Electrique’ by Eric Samakh (1990), a small electronic bird that starts singing whenever the wind blows.
The park is the perfect place to have a picnic or play a game of cards on the lawn.
