Description

The Palais de la Porte Dorée is an incredible Art Deco building, classed as a historic monument. Situated on the outskirts of the Bois de Vincennes (12th arrondissement), it was built for theParis Colonial Exposition in 1931. Since its inception, it has been home to the Tropical Aquarium, which exhibits over 5,000 animals of over 300 species, from primitive fish to electric fish, from Asian waters to the faunas of Africa and South America, without forgetting the spectacluar crocodiles, sharks, or piranhas! A unique chance for all the family to discover aquatic biodiversity. Since 2007 the palace has also been home to the Museum of the History of Immigration. Since the start of 2014, the Aquarium has welcomed two young albino alligators. These are extremely rare specimens: genetic rarities since both parents must carry the genes necessary for albinism.

Garden

The Palace of the Golden Gate has renovated its surroundings. The artist-botanist Liliana Motta wanted to rehabilitate plants from other continents, accused of being "invasive", by highlighting their ornamental, medicinal, and nutritional qualities: brush, clematis, pepper trees and rare plants to discover in this new garden.
