Description

The museum is housed in a 19th century private mansion overlooking the Marne river, in a park named after Vercors, the pseudonym of the founder of the secret Éditions de Minuit publishing house in World War II. The collections are the sum of over 3,000 public and private donations and deposits received since 1965. These pieces tell the story of French society from 1929 to 1947 and form a unique look at the French interior resistance movement, showing thousands of resistance fighters and deportees, a mix of French natives, immigrants and foreigners, both anonymous and famous. The Centre de Conservation preserves one of the most major collections of secret publications and archives from Resistance organizations and the photographic collection from the Le Matin newspaper, but also artistic works such as the photographs of Robert Doisneau and the drawings and watercolour paintings of Boris Taslitzky.
