Château d'Auvers

Chemin des Berthelées - 95430 Auvers-sur-Oise

95 - Val-d'Oise

30 minutes north of Paris, in the village of Auvers-sur-Oise where Vincent Van Gogh spent the last 70 days of his life, the Chateau d'Auvers offers a multimedia journey, 'Impressionist vision' plunging the visitor into the world of Impressionist painting, subtitled “Birth and Descendancy” (Protocubism, Fauvism and abstraction...). You make your way through the different rooms of the chateau, all with reconstructed decor and atmospheres reminiscent of the Impressionists' favourite themes. There are more than 500 paintings set to motion, visual and sound effects, popular music and songs of the time, extracts from old films, archive photos and clothes and other objects from the period. The commentary immerses the public for 65 minutes in the atmosphere of 19th century Parisian life
All year round you can enjoy temporary exhibitions, a restaurant with a terrace for hot days, a tree-filled park and French formal gardens, a unique collection of irises, cultural and festive events, floral art and painting workshops, etc. And to get there, take advantage of the chateau shuttle bus, which you can book on the website.
