MAD - Musée des Arts Décoratifs

107 rue de Rivoli - 75001 Paris

Louvre - 1er Arrondissement

Description

Situated in a wing of the Louvre, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs provides visitors with an insight into the decorative arts from medieval times to the present day. Visitors can discover a bedroom from the 15th century, admire the creations of numerous porcelain factories (Sèvres, Saint-Cloud, etc.), and observe the birth and development of art nouveau, with its curves and floral motifs. Works by contemporary designers and artists such as the Bouroullec brothers are presented towards the end of the exhibition visit. The rich collections from the departments of fashion and textiles, advertising and graphic design, conserved by the museum, are displayed only during temporary exhibitions. The nave, the superbly decorated central section of the museum, is used to host exhibition-events. Complete your visit with a trip to the bookstore and gift shop, 107Rivoli, where an exclusive selection of designer objects are on sale.
