Situated in the heart of Paris, in the Tuileries Gardens within a building dating back to 1862, the Jeu de Paume, a centre for art and international creation, has been a landmark site since 2004 for the presentation of images of the 20th and 21st centuries ranging from photography to cinema, and from video to installation and online creation. As a meeting point for artistic fields, the Jeu de Paume reflects on the place of images in art and society, both in terms of their production and their distribution and reception. Located in the Tuileries Gardens, at the western end of the Terrace des Feuillants, the Jeu de Paume has one of the most beautiful terraces in the Tuileries Gardens overlooking the Place de la Concorde.

Educational activities

As a family or individually for 3-11 year olds, children and adults are invited to explore images and stories through guided tours and creative workshops, as well as family films. In the auditorium or online, the Jeu de Paume's series of lectures explore themes that span the history of photography and moving images.


After an exhibition, for breakfast with the family, lunch with colleagues or a drink with friends, the Rose Bakery Terrace Café experience is unique, in an idyllic setting. Salads, pastries, hot dishes, cold and hot drinks: Rose Bakery offers you entirely organic cuisine revisiting English gastronomy.

Physical disability:
- Car access for disabled visitors via the Pont de Fer entrance (Seine side, towards the Louvre)
- The building has specific facilities: access ramp and lift
- 3.7% gradient on 1.85 m long ramp to enter the museum, narrow rest platform at the top of the ramp
- Disabled toilets are mixed
- 5 spaces for wheelchair users in the auditorium
- Parking possible in front of the building, visitors must inform the Jeu de Paume in advance
- Folding seats available for visitors

Hearing impairment:
- Guide booklets are given to visitors
- Six sound amplifiers are available at the welcome desk for use in exhibitions with videos
- A magnetic induction loop in the auditorium can be tuned to hearing aids in the T position to amplify sound
- Filmed portraits, image presentations of the accessible exhibitions available online, are subtitled in French for the hard-of-hearing and can be viewed in the articles on each exhibition
- The majority of videos are subtitled in French when they are in another language

Visual impairment:
- For art conservation reasons, the maximum light level for the vintage photographs space is 50lux
- All staircases are adapted for people with visual impairments
- Magnifying glasses are available to visitors at the welcome desk
- Description cards have good colour contrast (black and white)

Mental disability:
- The Jeu de Paume's education service develops activities in partnership with Medical and Educational Institutions and regularly welcomes visitors from day hospitals.
- The Jeu de Paume also welcomes specialist teachers (hospital staff in training) several times a year.
