Description

Created in 1936, this museum established in the famous "Institut Pasteur" keeps the memory of the work and life of Louis Pasteur. The museum is located in the vast flat where Pasteur spent the last seven years of his life from 1888 to 1895. The flat has not been modified; it is still typical of the decorative art of the end of the 19th century. The work of the scholar is presented in a room of scientific keepsakes where there are around 1,000 items (crystals, microscopes, polarimeters, autoclaves...) illustrate Pasteur's researches. The Byzantine-style chapel, where the scientist is buried, is decorated with mosaic recalling his discoveries.
