Description
The Domaine de Chantilly extends across 19,000 acres within one of the largest forests in the surrounding areas of Paris, composed of the chateau and its Musée Condé, the park and gardens, the Great Stables and the Horse Museum.
The chateau houses the Musée Condé, made up of the princely apartments and boasting an exceptional collection of paintings - over 800 masterpieces by artists such as Botticelli, Raphaël, Poussin and Delacroix - and a library and archive of over 19,000 works.
The park offers a grand view of the artistic Western Garden, featuring the French flower garden designed by Le Nôtre in the 17th century, 18th century the Anglo-Chinese garden housing a model hamlet styled after that of Marie-Antoinette Versailles' Petit Trianon, and the 19th century English garden.
Finally, the Grandes Ecuries (Great Stables) are a veritable masterpiece of 18th century architecture, housing the Musée du Cheval (Horse Museum) with over 200 items and art works dedicated to the equestrian world. The Grandes Ecuries offer equestrian shows throughout the year.
