Rooftop bars are very much in fashion in Paris, and are the places to be. Hailing from New York, this concept is all the rage in the capital, which has sprouted roof terraces all over Paris: hotels, department stores, cinemas, museums, theatres … everyone is joining in! Here is a little round up of the most ‘in’ rooftop terraces in Paris.
Amongst the pioneers of the genre is the inimitable Georges, a bar and restaurant, which has been on the rooftop of the Centre Pompidou for 15 years. You can have a meal or a drink here and take in the spectacular view.
Bobos like to meet up at Le Perchoir a fashionable hot spot, to sip a cocktail at sunset. Tucked away on the 7th floor of a building in the Oberkampf district, its 400 m² terrace is decorated in a bohemian style and affords a retro atmosphere view over the rooftops of the capital.
The delightful newBrasserie Barbès has just opened in the 18th arrondissement, on the corner of Boulevard Barbès and Boulevard de La Chapelle. With a cafe, bar, restaurant and dancing rolled into one, this four floor establishment also boasts a superb rooftop terrace.
Perched on the roof of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the terrace of the Maison Blanche restaurant affords an incredible panoramic view of Paris. And just across the river. Les Ombres, the rooftop restaurant of the musée du quai Branly offers a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower.

Right in the heart of the Latin Quarter, the Holiday Inn-Paris Notre-Dame offers a surprising rooftop bar, a few steps from the famous cathedral. The 43 Up on the Roof. is a ninth floor cocktail bar. The beautiful setting, panoramic views and inspired menu ... are a feast for the eyes and taste buds!

To reach seventh heaven, head to the Terrass’’ Hôtel, in the 18th arrondissement. Standing on the butte Montmartre since 1911, this hundred-year-old hotel has undergone a complete renovation and reopened in June 2015. Don't miss its wonderful terrace on the seventh floor, ‘Terrass” top’, where you can dine or have a drink.
