Paris’s heritage can be explored all year round in the course of a walk or sightseeing tour. However, some events provide the opportunity to admire and visit the city’s monuments from a different perspective.
The European Heritage Days are held on the third weekend in September every year, and give visitors the chance to explore sites and monuments free of charge. They also provide a unique opportunity to visit some sites that are closed to the public the rest of the year. In 2016, the theme of the event is ‘Heritage and Citizenship’.
Nuit Blanche is another highlight of the Paris events calendar. At this all-night event, artists create installations and put on performances at famous monuments and cultural venues, giving people a chance to admire Paris’s heritage after sunset.
