Description :

This exhibition will feature a talk about the ornaments chosen by the last French political regime which ordered the expression of a completely official art and whose impact spread throughout the whole of Europe. The exhibition looks at how, under the Empire, language and images were subject to political and economic constraints; and how expressions of seduction, distrusted and forbidden by imperial power, nonetheless manifested itself. Considering that the decorative arts are a priviledged reflection of the evolution of mentalities and that ornament is, by nature, a vector of essential communication, the exhibition presents a visual reading of images, of the ideas that they convey and their expression of the visual arts.
