Saint Roch Church was built between 1653 and 1754. Diderot, Corneille and Le Nôtre (who realized the gardens of Versailles) were burried in this church, which has the distinctivefeature of being made up of several chapels following one another. The church was partly built by Jacques Lemercier, the architect of the Sorbonne, with the financial participation of John Law, who caused a scandalous bankruptcy at the beginning of the XVIIIth century.
