Each year, Paris not only welcomes visitors from all four corners of the globe, but is also home to a growing number of expatriates, some of whom choose to settle in the French capital definitively. They bring with them their culture and curiosity, and help to constitute the rich tapestry that is Paris, contributing in many ways to the city’s dynamism, whether it be by way of tours, conversation workshops, cultural activities, nights out or popular events.

Open doors to the world

-La Cité universitaire internationale de Paris

Situated in a wooded park covering 34 hectares in the south of the city, Paris’s international university halls of residence house 5,500 students of all nationalities in thirty-seven hostels. They receive 12,000 visitors daily and the park is open to all. Throughout the year there are almost 800 cultural or artistic events on offer – live performances, concerts, exhibitions, talks and lectures – which draw both foreigners and Parisians curious to discover new ideas from elsewhere. Keep a close eye on the programme: there’s always something going on at the Cité internationale, giving you the opportunity to meet all kinds of people from other horizons.

-International cultural centres

Most countries have set up cultural centres or institutes in Paris to introduce others to their culture and their language. They regularly organise a range of events (shows, festivities and exhibitions) which are a great way to get to know people.
