Paris, capital of arts and culture, is renowned both for its monuments
and museums, whose exhibitions are constantly a new source of attraction.
As well as the famous Eiffel Tower (7th), there is the Sacré-Coeur
(9th), the Panthéon (5th) and the Conciergerie (1st), not forgetting
the emblematic cathedral of Notre-Dame (4th). In all, Paris boasts
420 listed monuments. A wealth of architectural splendour!
With more than 140 museums, the choice is vast. Buy a Paris Museum Pass and you will have access to some 60 sites that will take you on a journey through the history of art.
You will see the treasures of the Louvre (1st), masterpieces by the Impressionists at the Musée d’Orsay (7th) and primitive art at the Musée du Quai-Branly (7th).
Modern and contemporary art enthusiasts should go to the Palais de Tokyo (16th) and the Centre Pompidou (4th). Then, there is the recently opened Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine (16th).
September is the opportunity to get a closer look at the city’s heritage with the “Journées européennes du Patrimoine” (European Heritage Days): every year, hundreds of sites — institutions, monuments, ministries, theatres, etc. — open exceptionally and
at no charge for the public..
