Republican picnic
14 July 2011 in the palace grounds, near to the Grand Canal, from 11am
On the occasion of July 14th, Versailles Palace will welcome the public for a popular and republican picnic on the banks of the Grand Canal.
Dress code: white
Free access and free admission
In previous years, this huge popular and republican gathering has attracted some 10,000 people. This year, the picnic will once again be held beside the Grand Canal, in the place known as the Bassin du Fer-à-Cheval.
On the programme of special events for this day: a ‘Village Terroir’ featuring local produce, a bal musette (dance) and other surprises. Brass brands will be strolling around from one side of the Grand Canal to the other to make this event a great popular and festive occasion.
