THEATRE DE VERDURE DU JARDIN SHAKESPEARE - 16e
From May 1 2008 to October 5 2008
Description :
From 1 May to 5 October 2008
Tucked away within the tree-lined Pré Catelan public park in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne is a real treasure: the Jardin Shakespeare. This romantic green setting recreates...
the world of William Shakespeare with a series of carefully themed gardens designed to evoke the spirit of five of Shakespeare’s best-known plays, from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Macbeth” to “Hamlet”, “The Tempest” and “As You Like It”.
This enchanting garden turns into one of the loveliest open-air theatres each spring.
The stage setting, dotted with fragrant plants, briars and flowerbeds, gives on to lush green lawns for spectators to sit on.
This theatre festival opening on the first of May, as usual, with a show of folk Scottish dances, offers a European Season this year.
The program includes four plays by three great Italian, English and French playwrights : La Locandiera by Carlo Goldoni, Twelfth Night, in English and A Midsummer’s Night Dream by Wiliam Shakespeare, and Les Plaideurs by Jean Racine.
