Festivities, Festivals and festivities
Paris et toute la France
From September 17 2011 to September 18 2011
Description :
Now in its 28th year and going strong. Everyone saves the date for the third weekend in September. Heritage Days are the ideal occasion to visit national museums and monuments for free over this two-day event.
This annual event is the opportunity to see public and private places and collections not normally open to the public. Guided tours, special events, concerts, theatre, demonstrations, and themed tours. And what’s more those which are usually open to the public belonging to the municipality or state are free on these days.
This year the Ministry of Culture and Communication has chosen the theme of 'Travel in Heritage'. The object being to highlight the intercultural influences on the construction of France's heritage, exchanges with nearby countries and the circulation of ideas across national boundaries. A veritable journey through time for visitors.
Numerous exhibitions are organized during this weekend event. Most are free but prior registration is necessary.
