The exhibition gives Western visitors an introduction to a totally unfamiliar way of thinking and conception of Man’s place in the universe.
Displaying 250 very different works – painting, sculpture, pottery, bronze and textiles, the exhibition allows visitors to see how Taoism developed over the centuries, based on some fundamental guiding principles. In a completely new and transversal way, it reveals the most beautiful objects of collections from the Musée Guimet, Europe, the United States and Taiwan.

L’exposition familiarise le public occidental avec un mode de pensée et une conception de l’homme dans l’univers qui lui sont fondamentalement étrangers. Avec près de 250 oeuvres très diverses, de la peinture à la sculpture, de la céramique à l’art du bronze ou du textile, l’exposition permet de « voir » comment le Taoïsme s’est exprimé au fil des siècles à travers quelques grands thèmes fondateurs, et dévoile de façon transversale et inédite les plus beaux objets des collections du musée Guimet, d’Europe, des Etats-Unis et de Taiwan
