The Paradis Latin is the oldest of the world's cabarets. Worth seeing for the theatre alone, built by Gustave Eiffel and inagurated in January 1889, it was fully refurbished in 1977 and reopened under the management of Jean-Marie Rivère. The popularity of its shows can be seen in its audiences and in the media. The current show, "Paradis d'Amour", is a veritable enchantment, a hymn to love: love in the Roaring Twenties, the heady days of the Liberation and the cellars of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the liberated passions of the 70s and love reinvented in the new century.
