Activity :

Literary guided tours in English and French. With LIRE ET PARTIR (which means "Read and Take Off"), follow the footsteps of French literary greats and legendary American expatriates. Through their own words, Balzac, Hugo, Sand, Simenon, Sartre & Beauvoir… Franklin, Jefferson, Adams, Paine, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Miller & Nin show you a Paris—their Paris—that you may never have known before.

YOUR TOUR LEADERS

Patrick Maunand (tours in French). In 2001, Patrick, an engineer by training, gave in to his passion for literature and history by devoting himself full-time to conducting literary tours and seminars in Paris and the French provinces. He is the author of two Paris-themed books, Le Marais des Ecrivains and Le Quartier des Ecrivains, published by Editions Pimientos.

Shari Leslie Segall (tours in English). In France since 1985, Shari has written several Paris-themed books. She teaches courses on Americans in Paris and cross-cultural communication at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and has led numerous guided tours in Paris.

Rebecca Brite (tours in English). A former newspaper and book editor, Rebecca has lived in Paris since 1980. She works in international and intercultural communications, runs (and founded) Paris’s oldest English-language ciné-club and has been leading tours in Paris and elsewhere in France since 1998.

Pamela Grant (tours in English). One of the few Americans to have passed the French national guide’s exam, Pamela has been loading tours since 1997 (www.parisperspectives.com). She also works in the film industry, subtitling movies. She adapted the award-winning film “La Môme” into English.

Each walking tour lasts about two and a half hours. While certain tours are given in only French or English, others are bilingual.
