For the sweet-toothed among you, what do you see in your mind’s eye when you hear the word macaroon? If you get an image of a tasty but plain coconut cake, stop there!...

At the Ladurée tea rooms, “les macarons” are a whole new experience for the taste buds. This small round delicate cake is not only the speciality but the symbol of the Maison Ladurée founded in 1862. Offered in a variety of flavours from vanilla to orange blossom, pistachio to chocolate, the recipe has remained unchanged since the early 20th century: with the confectioners’ savoir-faire residing in the juxtaposition of flavourings and colours; creating a dainty dessert with originality and appeal.
