Arman

What is about? : Arman was one of the founding members of New Realism, an artistic movement created in the 60s that consisted in taking everyday objects and making them into powerful symbols of the consumer society. The artist therefore drew attention to the object as an art work drawing a keen portrait of his time but also redefining the great issues of visual art.
Why go? : It is amusing to see how everyday objects can become works of art. Interesting also to discover how through complex artistic procedures applied to an object (accumulation, combustion, cuts …) the artist is able to give a whole new language to his inventions. The scenography of the exhibition highlights these aesthetic challenges.
